The procedures offered at our center are:
SKIN REVITALIZING/REJUVENATING PROGRAMS
Skin texture, superficial blemishes, age spots, enlarged pores and fine lines may be improved by skin rejuvenating CREAM PROGRAMS. While not as involved as surgical cosmetic procedures, skin rejuvenation is a medical procedure.
Careful consideration of your natural skin color and type will determine the treatment best suited for you to minimize the risk of developing additional pigmentation or a loss of pigmentation (whitening of the skin).
The cream program consists of sequential use of various creams consisting of hydroxy acids, retinoic acids and demelanizing creams. The most important part of these programs is that they can be tailored to suit your skin type and your expectations. The advantage of this treatment is that it is home based and you need to follow up on 3-4 weekly intervals. This can also be combined with other treatment s. This treatment can achieve a marked improvement in your skin conditions and overall appearance.
ANTI ACNE TREATMENTS
Acne vulgaris (commonly called acne) is a skin disease caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair and its sebaceous gland.) Acne is a skin condition which has plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), inflamed pimples (pustules), and deeper lumps (nodules). Acne occurs on the face, as well as the neck, chest, back, shoulders, and upper arms. Although most teenagers get some form of acne, adults in their 20's, 30's, 40's, or even older, can develop acne. Acne can be disfiguring and upsetting to the patient. Untreated acne can leave permanent scars; these may be treated by your doctor in the future. To avoid acne scarring, treating acne is important.
Control of acne is an ongoing process. All acne treatments work by preventing new acne breakouts. Existing blemishes heal slowly, and therefore, improvement takes time. If your acne has not improved within two to three months, your treatment may need to be changed. The treatment recommended will vary according to the type of acne.
Occasionally, an acne-like rash can be due to another cause such as make-up or lotions, or from oral medication. It is important to help your doctor by providing an updated history of what you are using on your skin or taking internally.
Many non-prescription acne lotions and creams help mild cases of acne. However, many will also make your skin dry.
Anti acne treatments may consist of Topical and systemic (taken orally) medications. Topically topical creams, gels, or lotions with vitamin A acid-like drugs, or antibiotics to help unblock the pores and reduce bacteria. These products may cause some drying and peeling. Your doctor will advise you about correct usage and how to handle side effects.
Before starting any medication, even topical medications, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing, or if you are trying to get pregnant.
Many times Microdermabrasion and or Superficial peels are used along with to improve cosmetic results.
CHEMICAL PEELS
Chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those individuals with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. Phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) are used for this purpose. The precise formula used may be adjusted to meet each patient's needs. But the skin type seen in our country is best suited for medium depth or superficial peels (AHA).

Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), such as glycolic, lactic, or fruit acids are the mildest of the peel formulas and produce light peels. These types of peels can provide smoother, brighter-looking skin for people who have minor blemishes and irregularities. AHA peels may be used to treat fine wrinkling, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne. Various concentrations of an AHA may be applied weekly or at longer intervals to obtain the best result. Your doctor will make this decision during your consultation and as the treatment proceeds.
All chemical peels carry some uncertainty and risk. Chemical peel is normally a safe procedure when it is performed by a qualified, experienced Cosmetologist/Plastic Surgeon. However, some unpredictability and risks such as infection and scarring, while infrequent, are possible.
AHA peels may cause stinging, redness, irritation and crusting. However, as the skin adjusts to the treatment regimen, these problems will subside.
Sometimes a prescription medication derived from Vitamin A - is used to pre-treat the skin. This thins out the skin's surface layer, allowing the AHA solution to penetrate more deeply and evenly. A bleaching agent is sometimes used in conjunction with this pre-treatment, especially if you have blotchy skin areas or pigmentation problems. You may have to spend a month or more in the pre-treatment phase before the doctor will schedule your actual peel.
Most chemical peels may be safely performed in a Doctor’s office, office-based surgical facility or outpatient surgical center. There is no need for hospitalization after chemical peel procedure. No anesthesia is needed for AHA peels since they cause only a slight stinging sensation during application.
AHA peels/treatments: Your doctor will apply the AHA solution to your cleansed facial skin, a process that usually takes no more than 10 minutes. No "after-peel" ointment or covering is required. Depending on the strength of the peel, periodic treatments may be necessary until the desired effects are achieved.
For some patients, the application of an AHA-based face wash or cream once or twice a day at home will be sufficient to accomplish the desired goal. Your Doctor may additionally recommend a cream program to your at-home treatment schedule. After several weeks of at-home use, your doctor will examine your skin to determine if your regimen needs adjustment.
After an AHA peel, it is common to experience some temporary flaking or scaling, redness and dryness of the skin. However, these conditions will disappear as the skin adjusts to treatment.
With an AHA peel, the temporary redness, flaking and dryness that you experience will not prevent you from working or engaging in your normal activities. A fresher and improved skin texture will result with continued AHA treatments. Remember, protecting your skin from the sun is also important following these mild acid peels. Your doctor will recommend a sunblock with adequate UVA and UVB protection for use every day.
Improvements from AHA peels may be very subtle at first. You may detect a healthier glow to your skin. With continued treatments, you will notice a general improvement in the texture of your skin.
MICRODERMABRASION (SKIN POLISHING)
Microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening technique that helps repair facial skin that takes a beating from the sun and the effects of aging. As with other skin rejuvenation techniques, more than one treatment may be needed to reduce or remove fine wrinkles and unwanted pigmentation.
Microdermabrasion can also be used on the neck, upper chest/back and the backs of your to improve skin texture and minimize the effects of sun damage. A hand held wand directs a stream of micro crystals and suction hands to gently “polish” your skin and to remove the dead, outer layer of skin giving your complexion a healthy looking glow.
Many a times your doctor will put you on a pretreatment skin program before doing microdermabrasion. Your doctor can also combine this procedure with a chemical peel if your skin condition requires it.
This procedure is done in your doctor’s office/ outpatient surgical center. It does not require hospitalization or anaesthesia.
Microdermabrasion treatment: Your doctor will apply the microdermabrasion hand piece to your cleansed facial skin or the part that is being treated, a process that usually takes 30 minutes to an hour depending on the areas being treated. No "after-peel" ointment or covering is required. An initial series of weekly sessions often is recommended, followed by a periodic maintenance treatment.
Although your skin may be slightly pink or sensitive immediately following a microdermabrasion treatment, in most cases you should be able to return immediately to work or social activities.
ANTI WRINKLE TREATMENTS (BOTOX, FILLERS)
Botox and dermal fillers are popular non surgical techniques for treating facial lines and wrinkles. Patients usually are pleased with the results of these minimally invasive procedures. Injectable wrinkle treatments, however, cannot correct significant facial sagging or achieve the same results as a facelift, eyelid surgery, brow lift etc.
BOTOX
The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, often referred to by its product name Botox®, is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck. The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance.
Botox is most effective in treating the type of lines and wrinkles caused by muscle contraction during facial expressions such as frowning or squinting. Common areas for Botox injections include horizontal forehead furrows, vertical lines between the eyebrows and “crow’s feet” around the eyes.
BOTOX Therapy
Before treatment, the doctor will obtain the patient's medical history, including any medications taken. Treatment involves injecting very small amounts of BOTOX directly into the underlying facial muscles to relax them. A tiny needle is used; the procedure is well tolerated and takes just a few minutes with no "down time" or prolonged recovery period.
Botulinum toxin takes effect about 3 to 7 days after treatment. The improvement generally lasts about 3 to 4 months; the effect gradually fades as muscle action returns. Patients require re-injection at various intervals. With repeated treatments, atrophy (thinning) of the muscle may occur. This usually produces longer-lasting results.
Treatment Areas
Vertical lines between the eyebrows and on the bridge of the nose
• |
Squint lines (crow's feet) at the corners of the eyes |
• |
Horizontal lines on the forehead |
• |
Muscle bands visible on the neck, commonly known as "turkey neck" |
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are generally minimal, temporary, and typically relate to the local injection. Soreness or mild bruising, while uncommon, may occur around the injection site. Makeup may be applied after the treatment, but care should be taken to avoid pressing or massaging the area for several hours. A temporary headache is not uncommon after injections in the forehead area, especially after the first treatment. In rare instances, patients may develop weakness of the neighboring muscles leading to a temporary droopy brow or eyelid. All of these possible effects are mild, reversible, and self-limiting.
Other Applications
Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) can be treated with injections of a highly diluted form of botulinum toxin which is superficially injected directly into the underarm skin, skin on the palms of the hands, or on the soles of the feet.
INJECTABLE FILLERS
|
|
|
LIP-POST |
|
|
|
NASOLABIAL-FOLD-POST |
One of the earliest signs of aging is a loss of facial fullness and the development of wrinkles. Softening of these facial lines and the restoration of volume and fullness in the face often can be achieved non-surgically with injectable fillers.
Soft tissue fillers are flexible substances that can be injected into the skin to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, plump lips, fill out hollow cheeks, improve scars, elevate deep folds, and repair various facial imperfections. The result is a smoother, more youthful appearance with minimal "downtime" and maximum safety.
Treatment results last up to a year or more in some cases and are highly variable.
What happens during soft tissue augmentation?
|
Your doctor will carefully evaluate your facial appearance and skin tone, and examine the areas of your face to be augmented with injectable fillers. |
| Step 2 |
Strategic points on your face may be marked as guides to the appropriate injection sites for the filler. |
| Step 3 |
The injection sites will be cleansed with an antibacterial agent and icing or a topical numbing agent may be offered to make more sensitive patients comfortable.
In some cases, the filler itself will contain an anesthetic agent. In other cases local anesthetic may be administered to the treatment site. |
| Step 4 |
Injection takes only a few moments per site and a few minutes for a course of treatment. |
| Step 5 |
Following injection, any markings will be cleansed and icing may be offered to alleviate any temporary, minor discomfort. Makeup may be carefully re-applied so long as care is taken not to apply pressure to the treatment area.
|
Filling wrinkles or recessed scars involves multiple injections. In some cases where deeper injection of fillers is required, a local anesthetic may be used prior to treatment.
An improved appearance is visible almost immediately, although minor swelling or bruising may appear at the injection sites.
With some fillers, a slightly “over-filled” appearance may be initially present. These conditions will resolve within a few hours, or at most a few days.
Complications from fillers are uncommon.
The risks vary depending on the specific filler used and the relative permanence of the filler substance and include:
• |
Fillers derived from non-human sources may require a pre-treatment allergy test |
• |
Infection at the injection site |
• |
Fillers that are not completely fluid and contain microscopic granular substances carry a risk of “clumping” as a result of facial movement and the natural aging process. Over time, these can result in lumps or nodules that may require surgery to treat |
• |
Acne-like skin eruptions |
• |
Antibodies to filler material may reduce the effectiveness of future injections |
• |
Asymmetry |
• |
Bleeding, bruising and swelling |
• |
Filler material may migrate from the original site and produce temporary paralysis of other muscle groups or other unintended effects |
• |
Skin might die (skin necrosis) |
• |
Skin rash, itching and swelling |
• |
Skin redness |
|
Skin sensitivity |
• |
Under or over correction of wrinkles |
Where fat is the injected filler, these conditions may persist for a few weeks.
The results of soft tissue augmentation with injectable fillers are not permanent, even though a filler substance may be considered permanent. The continued aging of your face and variables in the absorption of fillers will affect how long your results last.
Should you choose not to repeat treatment, your appearance will return to its original condition. Plumped lips will lose volume and improved wrinkles, creases and scars will visibly recess and fully reappear in time.
The results of permanent fillers can change over time; as you age naturally, these fillers may shift or clump.
Surgical removal may be necessary to correct these conditions and could result in visible changes in appearance and noticeable changes in the texture of soft tissue. |
